The Province of North Holland has selected the contractor combination Van Hattum and Blankevoort/Hollandia Infra. They will work out the design of the new Cruquius bridge (N201) in Heemstede, together with the sustainability ambitions. The bridge will be circular, energy-neutral and as low-maintenance as possible. The first work is expected to start early next year.
Jeroen Olthof, deputy for mobility and accessibility: “I am proud that we are building more and more sustainable. The new Cruquius bridge is a special and ambitious innovation project and an example of how we will build bridges in the future”. The province wants to build an energy neutral bridge that is (as much as possible) self-sufficient and generates as much energy as it consumes. The new bridge will also be built with standardised bridge components that can easily be reused or replaced. The Cruquius bridge is a good example of how the use of innovative technology can contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.
Sander Lodder, managing director of Van Hattum en Blankevoort, and Nardo Hoogendijk, managing director of Hollandia Infra, are looking forward to giving further shape to this great project together with the province. Nardo Hoogendijk: “The province has challenged us on the theme of sustainability. Together with the province of North Holland, we are going to work out the design of the Cruquius bridge as a construction team, contributing our knowledge and together achieving our sustainability ambitions.” In the coming period, planning and realisation will be worked out in addition to the design. The contractor is expected to start work in early 2022.
New Cruquius bridge
The Cruquius bridge (N201) will be renovated in 2022 – 2023. The eastern bridge in the direction of Heemstede will be replaced and widened. Major maintenance to the western bridge in the direction of Hoofddorp will also take place in this period. Together with the Transport region Amsterdam, Hoogheemraadschap Rijnland, municipality Heemstede and municipality Haarlemmermeer, the province of Noord-Holland will improve the flow of road traffic on the N201.
