Hollandia Services, together with the client Province of South Holland, has completed the process of CE marking. The object now complies with the legal safety requirements. The 130-year-old lock at Leidschendam is a national monument. To ensure that shipping continues to pass through smoothly and safely in the future, major maintenance was carried out on the lock complex including the two moveable bridges.
The monumental status of the lock makes it a special project. For the restoration method used, we were awarded the third prize by the Foundation for Historic Locks and Dams for the most valuable lock restored. In ten years’ time, major maintenance will again be carried out on the control system and, if necessary, on the locomotive equipment. For the time being, the lock complex and its surroundings can last another 30 to 40 years.
