The Wembley Stadium in London has been chosen as the new English National Stadium. To bring the stadium, which dates from 1923, up to the current requirements, the old stadium has been completely rebuilt. The new stadium was built on the site of the old Wembley Stadium, making it the largest indoor football stadium in Europe, with a capacity of 90,000 spectators.
Hollandia’s scope for this special project was the design & construct of approximately 16000 ton steel structures for the New Wembley Stadium in London.
In close cooperation, the Hollandia shipyards in Krimpen a/d IJssel and Heijningen supplied most of the steel constructions for this eye-catching project.
It is one of the most spectacular projects ever realised by Hollandia. The project included the design, fabrication and installation of a movable roof measuring approximately 200 x 300 m.
