Hollandia Services recently successfully completed a challenging project on behalf of the City of Rotterdam. An unplanned emergency required quick repair of a broken anchorage of cylinder seats on the Spaansebrug.
To minimize disruption of shipping, we modified the bridge to operate on only 1 cylinder, allowing the other cylinder to be temporarily removed. This allowed us to replace the cylinder seat, including implementing new anchoring. To be able to operate on 1 cylinder, shortening the suspension rods involved adjusting the opening angle and balance situation. Also, the hydraulic control and related operation and control (including software) were converted to a 1-to-1 operation. From then on, the replacement of the cylinder seats could actually begin.
Despite many challenges and setbacks throughout this process, we managed to successfully transfer the Spaansebrug in 2 cylinder operation to the Gemeente Rotterdam.
This achievement was made possible by the dedication and cooperation by our valued partners, Goudriaan Transport Kraanverhuur Boekestijn J. Boonzaaijer Aannemingsbedrijf B.V. Final thanks to the City of Rotterdam for its confidence in Hollandia Services. And especially for the very pleasant cooperation and fine tuning moments to get this project done successfully together.
