Sherpa and EPC take on movable infrastructure in South Holland

Technical service provider Croonwolter&dros, engineering organisation Arcadis and renovation & maintenance specialist Hollandia Services – together forming the Sherpa consortium – have been commissioned by the Province of South Holland to manage and maintain more than 90 movable infrastructure assets in the province. For this contract, valued at €41 million and with a duration of up to 10 years, they are joining forces with EPC from Alblasserdam, a company with extensive knowledge of the area.

In addition to day-to-day management and maintenance, Sherpa will support the province in structuring and further developing its asset management approach.

Within Sherpa we have been working together successfully for many years,” says Mireille de Goey, Senior Programme Manager at Arcadis. “Previously, we managed the maintenance and renovation of locks in the IJsselmeer area, as well as performance-based maintenance and renovation of movable objects in the southern Netherlands, such as the Van Brienenoord Bridge.

This is a highly challenging contract, involving both planned and unplanned maintenance,” adds Jeroen van Driel, Manager Asset Management at Hollandia Services. “We carry out periodic maintenance according to schedule, while for unplanned activities – such as resolving malfunctions, defects, damage or emergencies – we make clear process agreements.

Our areas of expertise complement one another,” explains Annemarie Rutgers, Manager Tender and Commerce at Croonwolter&dros. “The contract covers inspections, verifications (including statutory inspections) and preventive maintenance, as well as system management, installation responsibility and asset management. Together, we ensure that both road and waterway traffic remain safe, with reliable availability and smooth flow.
