Commissioned by the Province of North Holland, construction consortium Bridge Ouderkerk (BOK) replaced the bridge over the Amstel River on the N522, between Amstelveen and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. This involved replacing the original 1936 bridge with two new bridges. During this process, the connecting roads and bicycle paths were also modified. This improved traffic safety around the bridge and improved traffic flow on the provincial road.
This project was carried out by construction consortium Bridge Ouderkerk (#BOK) consisting of: Van Hattum and Blankevoort, Hollandia Infra, KWS Infra, Vialis and Movares. Hollandia Infra was responsible for all moving steel parts of both bridges.
A year ago, the new northern bridge was already opened to traffic so that the old bridge could be demolished later that summer. That completed the first half of the replacement Bridge Ouderkerk.
Now the second bridge is also complete. In an extended weekend closure, the traffic situation was completely converted to the final situation and meanwhile the bridge is also connected to the province’s control center. To celebrate this milestone, a grand opening is planned on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 starting at 3 p.m.
