Renovation of the Hambrug | Vaarweg 1 Project

Right in the heart of Delft lies the Hambrug, which is currently undergoing a major renovation. This bridge is part of the larger Vaarweg 1 renovation project, and its bascule span has recently been fully refurbished at our yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel.

Commissioned by the Province of South Holland, Hollandia Services is carrying out renovation works on no fewer than nine movable bridges in and around Delft – the Hambrug being one of them.

What does the renovation involve?
The renovation of the Hambrug covers multiple components. The bascule span is being refurbished, the civil structures of the abutments and piers are being repaired, and the operating, control and electrical systems are being completely renewed. Part of the bridge drive is also being replaced, while the steel roadway and footpaths are undergoing a thorough renovation.
