38 years after the Oosterscheldekering was put into service, it’s now time for major maintenance on the 124 moving parts. Components are being replaced or modified to meet current technological standards.
On behalf of Rijkswaterstaat, Hollandia Services is carrying out a large-scale renovation of 6 moving parts as part of a pilot project. This aims to determine the optimal maintenance and replacement strategy for the remaining 118 moving parts of the barrier, with the goal of achieving 50 years of maintenance-free operation.
