Mega transport Suurhoffbrug to be followed live

It is going to be a spectacular transport over water: The new temporary Suurhoff bridge will leave the Hollandia shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel in the night of Sunday the 9th to Monday the 10th of May towards the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. The 200 metre long bridge will sail on two large pontoons right through Rotterdam, passing 7 bridges including the Van Brienenoordbrug, the Hef and the Erasmusbrug. The mega transport can be followed live via a livestream on www.suurhoffbrug.live.

On Saturday, 15 May, we will install the new bridge next to the existing Suurhoff Bridge over the A15 motorway near Oostvoorne. This operation can also be followed live via the livestream on www.suurhoffbrug.live. Once the new bridge is ready, Rijkswaterstaat will renovate the existing Suurhoff bridge. From the end of 2021, the temporary new bridge will be used for traffic towards Rotterdam, while the old bridge will remain in use for traffic towards the Maasvlakte and Oostvoorne. In this way, the burden of heavy goods traffic will be shared. In the future, an entirely new riverbank connection will be built.

Hollandia Infra is building the new temporary Suurhoff bridge over the A15 at Oostvoorne by order of Rijkswaterstaat as part of the contractor combination STIPT, together with DuraVermeer, Besix and MobilisTBI.

More background information about this project can be found on the webpage of Rijkswaterstaat.
