Major maintenance work on Eefde’s Southern Lock (Zuidersluis) in full flow
After months of extensive preparations, Hollandia Services started major maintenance work on the existing lock in Eefde on Monday 27 April. With the imminent construction of a new lock that will be called the Northern Lock, the old lock will soon be known as the Southern Lock. Work on the Southern Lock is meanwhile in full flow!
On Monday 11 May, we scaled up our team by adding HEBO as a partner, so that we now have 14 colleagues working on the various components in the outer harbour in a safe and socially distanced manner. The first components have meanwhile been hoisted out for revision.
On Tuesday 19 May 2020, the tall mitre doors of the outer harbour will be hoisted out. This promises to be a spectacular operation, so watch this space for photos and video footage.
Hollandia Services is performing major maintenance on the existing Southern Lock in Eefde, contracted by the Lock2Twente consortium (Mobilis TBI and Croonwolter&dros), while the whole project was commissioned by the end user, Rijkswaterstaat.
