In preparation for the closure of the Algerabrug (N210), we constructed a temporary cycle and pedestrian bridge. This temporary connection runs parallel to the bridge leaf and ensures that cyclists and pedestrians can continue to cross the Hollandsche IJssel during the closure.
The bridge was constructed from prefabricated components, which were then assembled on site. The timelapse below shows how the different components come together in just a few seconds to form a complete temporary cycle and pedestrian bridge. Video is in Dutch.
From 10 August to 7 September, the Algerabrug will be closed to motor traffic. During this period, Savera Over-Bruggen will carry out major maintenance on both the bridge leaf and the fixed section of the bridge. This includes replacing the timber beams and steel longitudinal girders of the bridge leaf, treating the steel structure on site and applying a new asphalt surface to the fixed section of the bridge.
