Construction begins on the Borgharen – Bosscherveld cycle bridge

A major step towards improving connections in Maastricht: construction of the 138-metre-long cycle bridge across the River Maas has officially begun.

This special milestone was marked by the unveiling of the construction sign and the bridge’s name: Bobobrug. A meaningful name that refers both to the connection between Borgharen and Bosscherveld and to a Frankish warrior from the sixth century, whose remains were discovered in Borgharen.

Representatives from the local communities attended the event, together with project partners: RivierPark Maasvallei, the Province of Limburg, the client Municipality of Maastricht, and representatives of the contractor consortium Hollandia Infra and Van den Biggelaar Grond- en Waterbouw.

Visitors can follow the progress of the project from a specially constructed viewing platform.
