An inspection of the Hogebrug in Overschie led to a special project last autumn. At the beginning of September, the Municipality of Rotterdam contacted Hollandia Services after a creaking noise was detected at the bearings of the bridge’s main pivot point. A clear sign that intervention was required.
Following the inspection, Hollandia Services was commissioned to design and manufacture new pivot bearing supports. Our engineers immediately started working on the design, after which the components were produced in our production facility.
In mid-November, the Hogebrug was dismantled and removed from its position with the support of HEBO. At the Hollandia yard, the necessary repairs to the bridge deck were carried out. Meanwhile, the new pivot bearing supports were installed on site, after which the bridge was returned to its original position.
In addition, together with Hydroton, we responded to a last-minute request from the municipality to make the existing reserve cylinder operational and fully interchangeable.
The works were completed on schedule. Thanks to the pleasant cooperation with the Municipality of Rotterdam and our partners, the Hogebrug is once again safe and reliable in operation.
