Another important milestone for the Cruquius Bridge team

Last week, the Cruquius Bridge team achieved another major milestone! Following the successful implementation of the traffic phasing – with Bridge A (the new bridge) opened and Bridge B (the 1971 bridge) closed – we immediately began preparations for the dismantling of Bridge B. By the end of the week, the bridge was expertly removed and has since arrived at our yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel. There, it will be blasted, repaired and preserved, ensuring it can once again serve sustainably for at least another 30 years.

With this step, we are steadily working towards the reopening of Bridge B and the completion of the project in the first quarter of 2026. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed with such dedication!

About the Cruquius Bridge
The Cruquius Bridge consists of two parts: one bridge dating from 1932 and a second from 1971, both of which were due for replacement or renovation. The Province of North Holland awarded the contract to the contractor consortium Van Hattum en Blankevoort / Hollandia Infra. The eastern bridge towards Heemstede has already been successfully replaced. Renovation of the western bridge towards Hoofddorp is currently in full swing. In addition, a cycling underpass is being constructed and the traffic junction is being redesigned – all with the aim of ensuring safe and future-proof traffic flow.
